Shape dies are used to reduce the diameter or to transform one wire shape into another. Applications include various types of ferrous and non-ferrous rods and wires.

They are used in wire drawing and extrusion machines where material is drawn through or forced under pressure through the die. Shaped dies consist of the same profile parts as regular wire drawing dies for forming round wire.
